Skift Take

Low-tech and high-tech productions can have a way of dialing in and out of authenticity.

adsPicking a destination can be exciting for travelers.

Visit Philly

Visit Philly had this video ready to upload as soon as the ruling to legalize same-sex marriage across the 50 states was official. It shows various city landmarks with couples tying the knot and showing their affection for one another. In this case, it wasn’t a high production shoot, but it felt authentic. Visit Philly congratulated America and invited people to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the gay rights movement on July 4th.

Visit Brasil

¡No te resistas, deja que el ritmo brasileño te contagie y ven a bailar con nosotros! ;)

Posted by Visit Brasil on Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Football aka soccer, the beach, dancing, and rump shaking are integral elements to Brazilian culture. Visit Brasil’s new video captures all of that and then some with music that entices travelers to get the full soundtrack to samba to or even better, plan a trip to listen to it live. This video was uploaded directly to Facebook, but not on YouTube. It already had received over 40,000 views four hours after it was published.

AirASia

AirAsia partnered with Visit Melbourne to feature sightseeing and activities in this ad. The ad reveals the rugged coastline of the Twelve Apostles and it pans to a curious couple enjoying the scenic views from a deck, as the camera continues to move to another frame — literally a frame. It becomes apparent that the people at the outdoor cafe across from Melbourne Central train station who appear to be standing still are miniatures. Multiple scenes of people doing and seeing things in Melbourne were positioned in a grid that was arranged inside the top lid of a suitcase, suggesting travel experiences to be had or reflected upon.

BONUS: Throwing these two in for fun. Happy Independence Day, America!

SAS

SAS published a series of nine 15-second videos featuring travel hacks. They relate to smartphones, packing clothes and accessories, and earning points on the airline’s Eurobonus credit card. Among the most surprising and useful of the hacks were putting a shoe in the hotel safe; setting a smartphone in airplane mode to juice the battery faster; and charging the phone with a USB connected to the back of your hotel room’s flat screen smart television.

Air New Zealand

Skiers and snowboarders often have their differences. Air New Zealand brought these two groups together for an epic snowball fight with a … wait for them … catapults! The goal is to knock down a giant replica of a snowboard and a pair of skis. During the fight, the flight crew refreshed the rivals with hot beverages to show their hospitality as skies and snowboarders hurled the giant snowballs.
