Priceline Group Inc. named Paul J. Hennessy chief executive officer of Priceline.com, the company’s online travel-booking service.

Current Priceline.com CEO Chris Soder will take over as its chairman, the company said.

Hennessy has been chief marketing officer of Booking.com, the group’s Amsterdam-based brand. He will take his new position April 1 and report to Darren Huston, the group’s president and CEO, the Norwalk, Connecticut-based company said Friday in a statement.

“His experience will help guide priceline.com in its next chapter as a leader in delivering the best online travel deals for consumers,” Huston said in a statement.

Priceline, the largest online travel-booking company, in December named Gillian Tans chief operating officer of Booking.com. It also appointed a new chief product officer for the business and a new chief executive officer for Rentalcars.com.
