There's a market opportunity in meetings and events -- a $500 billion one, according to DoubleDutch. Conferences need apps and data, and that's where DoubleDutch enters the arena.

Mobile events app DoubleDutch doubled down on its fundraising efforts and secured $19 million in a Series D round.

The round, led by Mithril Capital Management, with participation from previous investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Index Ventures and Bullpen Capita, brings DoubleDutch’s total funding to $37.5 million since its 2012 founding. Enspire Capital of Singapore also joined the round.

DoubleDutch plans to use the funding for the usual things: expand globally, enhance product development, and hire additional tech staff.

In addition to enabling meetings’ attendees to view schedules and access speaker information, the apps that DoubleDutch creates for companies conducting conferences also provide for status updates and leaderboards of the most-active users.

DoubleDutch has developed apps for a wide range of companies, including Lowes, BizBash, Cisco, Bristol-Myers Squibb, SAP, Audi, Verizon, Estee Lauder, and Proctor & Gamble, and many other companies.

DoubleDutch also provides clients with data analytics about their events, including analytics that can be used while the event is under way, the company says.
