Continuing on this trend, it’s most likely that increased air traffic is coming in from the East as Asian outbound travel booms.
Officials in Las Vegas say McCarran International Airport handled 3.7 percent fewer passengers in February than a year earlier.
Data released Friday shows slightly fewer than 3 million people flew in and out of the airport last month. That’s about 115,000 fewer than in February 2012.
Total airport traffic dropped in January and December as well. McCarran served about 6.1 million passengers during the first two months of the year.
Domestic traffic is down by 4.2 percent compared with last year, while the number of passengers flying internationally increased by 2.4 percent. Domestic carriers make up about 90 percent of traffic.
Of the top five airlines serving the airport, only American Airlines saw an increase in passengers.
McCarran is the seventh-busiest airport in the country.
