IHG is adjusting its services to cater its customers where they are connecting to the hotel company, which is increasingly through mobile apps and less through web pages.

InterContinental Hotels Group embraced mobile technology early, and was the first hotel group to offer apps on multiple mobile platforms including Apple’s iPhone and iPad, Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Google’s  Android-powered tablets and phones and Microsoft’s Windows phone. All the apps are free to download and use.

The upgraded apps…include discounts at hotel property restaurants and room upgrade opportunities. The app also allows business travelers to directly book discounted, company-negotiated room rates — instead of having to go through corporate travel departments, which is what most road warriors use.
