Current low-revenue routes flown by Air Canada will be given to the unnamed airline which is set to start flying in 2013 under separate leadership.

Air Canada is within weeks of unveiling plans for the launch of its low-cost carrier, says Michael Rousseau, chief financial officer.

He made the comments at an investor conference Wednesday in Toronto, where he said the goal remains to have the wholly owned subsidiary in the air sometime in 2013.

More details are expected with the company’s third quarter results tentatively slated for Nov. 8.
