Skift Take

From fashion labels to children’s games, hotels have taken on an array of strange new looks to attract guests, but this is the first instance we’ve seen where character flaws are the inspiration for redesign. Pity the cleaning staff.

Lingerie designer Chantal Thomass has lent her boudoir stylings to the decor of a new hotel on Paris’s Left Bank, seeking inspiration in the seven deadly sins.

The Vice Versa hotel, located rue de la Croix Nivert, is seven stories high to accommodate one sin per floor — namely wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony — and has 37 rooms.

Chantal Thomass had fun creating different atmospheres for the seven sins by choosing the furniture, wallpaper, and drapery for each theme. The bar “in Heaven” and the hammam “in Hell” complement the sinful design.
