The European debt crisis and the lingering impact of the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster continued to blunt Carnival’s second quarter performance, although the cruise behemoth tried to put the best face on the whole thing.

Carnival (CCL), the world’s largest cruise operator, closed down 2.7% after reporting second-quarter results that missed Wall Street estimates as it continues to recover from the Costa Concordia disaster last year.
