Several cruise ships were turned away from Oslo in recent days, the result of a strike by pilot boat skippers. And the job action is set to expand tomorrow, a move expected to impact a number of Norwegian ports. The dispute over wages between the pilots and Municipality of Oslo comes just as the Norwegian summer cruise season is kicking into high gear.
Pilot boat skippers are needed to navigate Norway’s scenic waters. If the wage dispute isn’t settled the action will spread to other ports just as the season gets underway.
