Hotels are fast filling up and council is back on the task of grooming Darwin’s public spaces of frugal backpackers, but still no solution has been offered to the years-long accommodation issue in Darwin. Dry weather sees tourists flock to Darwin but the low season doesn’t warrant the expansion of accommodation in the city centre, meaning year after year, tourists opt to camp illegally in public spaces.
