Macau’s Statistics and Census Service said the SAR saw a total of 5,700,339 visitor arrivals in 2022, down 26% year on year. The 2022 figure compares with 7.7 million arrivals in 2021 and a record 39.4 million arrivals in 2019.
The travel industry's attention will be focused on the strength or weakness of tourism numbers for China's lunar new year holiday in a week. Macau visitations could be an early indicator.
