Skift Take

We are ecstatic to have Carolyn join our team as we drive the brand to new heights in 2016 and beyond.

As Skift finishes 2015, we’re closing out the year on a high note: hitting profitability, a team size nearing 20, and brand influence at its highest.

Along with this comes the need to scale on executive leadership in order to build Skift into a lasting global business information company focused on the world’s largest sector. To help make this happen we are bringing on Carolyn Kremins, an experienced and accomplished media operator, as our first company President. During her career she has led brands such as Conde Nast Traveler, The Week, Maxim, Bride, and others as Publisher, and she brings deep expertise in crafting focused strategies by defining emerging markets and trends.

Carolyn starts today, and she will lead the company’s revenue growth by working along with the executive team in 2016 and beyond.

Below is today’s official press release which offers more details on her appointment.

Skift Brings on Experienced Media Operator as Company President

Kremins appointed President of Skift, bringing two decades of experience scaling media businesses.

New York City: Skift, the largest travel business information and marketing platform, announced today it has hired proven media leader and branding expert Carolyn Kremins as President.

She comes to Skift after various leaderships roles at companies including Conde Nast and Dennis Publishing over her varied and accomplished career.

As General Manager of Epicurious, Kremins completely overhauled the digital brand to fresh success, resulting in the highest traffic and revenue in the brand’s 19-year history. Kremins also successfully led the launch of incubator media properties (Maxim, The Week, and Cookie) and reimagined world-class brands (Brides and Conde Nast Traveler) across digital, mobile, video, licensing, events, and print platforms, as Publisher of these various properties through her career.

“Carolyn is a highly-regarded industry leader, business builder and disciplined profit driver. She brings deep expertise in crafting focused strategies by defining emerging markets and technology trends. We are ecstatic to have Carolyn join our team as we drive the brand to new heights in 2016 and beyond,” said Rafat Ali, founder and CEO of Skift.

Kremins was named one of “40 Industry Innovators With Impact” and Advertising Age’s Women to Watch, recognized as Sales Team Leader of the Year by Media Industry Newsletter and called “one of the most influential women in media” by FOLIO magazine. She serves on the board of Exclusive Resorts, Steve Case’s luxury vacation and travel club.

“I have been an avid admirer of Skift since its inception”, said Kremins. “With its spot-on trend reporting and fanatical fan base Skift brought much needed vibrancy and insight to one of the most exciting industries in the world. Skift is a pioneering brand that’s transforming and defining the future of travel and the way that market leaders across the globe think about their business. I look forward to joining a company and team that I really believe in as we further innovate and build a world class brand in this dynamic space.”

Kremins is an avid traveler, most recently visiting Antarctica, thereby checking the box to all seven continents. She resides in New York City with her husband and two daughters.
