Skift Take

Instead of going offline for six months a year, Wisconsin is smart to admit it's cold as heck, but still encourage people to come and have fun.

This week Travel Wisconsin rolled out its last advertisement featuring stars from the 1980 film “Airplane!”

The ad is part of the state’s campaign to embrace its cold-weather reputation and encourage visitors seeking a winter escape. It features actors Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Hayes reprising their roles as pilots Roger Murdock and Ted Striker.

Zucker directed “Airplane!” with his brother, David Zucker, who has directed three previous Wisconsin tourism ads. The two brothers are Wisconsin natives.
