We've yet to see a content-sharing travel app catch on with consumers, no matter how much money has been poured into it.

China-based Breadtrip, a travel recommendations and sharing app, picked up $50 million in a Series C funding round led by Tencent Holdings with participation by Fidelity Growth Partners Asia and China Broadband.

Breadtrip states that it plans on using the funding to expand its technical team and marketing efforts, and to increase its coverage of overseas destinations.

The funding infusion brings Breadtrip’s total funding to $62 million, according to Crunchbase.

Breadtrip, which boasts of millions of users, states it offers travelers practical information and recommendations before, during and after the trip.
