Airlines are slowly following hotels in making the shift from simple services to lifestyle brands that require distinct personalities to promote.

Fiji Airways is promoting its local culture in the national airline’s new brand campaign ‘Welcome to Our Home’. The campaign’s launch include three videos that follow families who, nominated by their friends, were gifted a trip to Fiji on the airline.

“Following our successful relaunch to Fiji Airways last year, we have revamped our marketing approach and have now included more of Fiji’s people in the way we market our company and the country overseas,” Fiji Airways CEO Stefan Pichler said in a comment.

“This also better aligns us with our aim of becoming a leading boutique airline that exudes a unique and personal touch.”

Flag carriers often call on their characteristics of their country to describe the service that flyers can experience onboard. Air France played up its French heritage in its latest marketing campaign and Israel flag carrier El Al tells customers that they’re in Israeli as soon as they board the plane.
