Yankees Pitcher Chartered Japan Airlines Dreamliner to Get to New York

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is infamous for the battery problems it experienced. Masahiro Tanaka, who chartered a Dreamliner for himself, four other passengers, and his dog, will be meeting his Yankees battery-mate soon, and is obviously hoping that there won’t be similar types of surprises.

Japanese baseball sensation Masahiro Tanaka chartered his own Boeing 787 Dreamliner to fly him to New York, with the entire plane taken up by his five-strong party and his pet dog.

The ace pitcher, who has just signed a seven-year MLB deal worth $US155 million ($173.6 million) with the New York Yankees, is believed to have splashed out $195,000 of his own money on the one-way flight. Japan Airlines confirmed he used one of its Boeing 787s but declined to disclose further details.
