Dan Garton may have left American Eagle as its president and CEO, but it appears he’s not leaving the regional-airline business.

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. said Friday that it has named Garton to its board of directors. He’ll officially join the Republic board on Jan. 3, 2014. It appears Garton is replacing Richard P. Schifter, a TPG Capital partner who resigned from the Republic board on Monday, Dec. 16.
