Skift Take

All things must pass -- apparently.

The once-proud and iconic TWA got out-competed, deregulated and Carl Icahn-ed, and the last chance to view and experience a standout piece of its fading legend will take place tomorrow as Open House New York opens the doors for a few hours to the now-dormant TWA Flight Center at JFK International Airport.

The Eero Saarinen-designed structure, which opened in 1962 and now sits adjacent to JetBlue terminal T5, will soon be transformed — for better, or probably worse — into an Andre Balazs 150-room hotel.

The gallery above depicts a previous Open House New York event at the TWA Flight Center.

The TWA Flight Center ceased operations 12 years ago in October 2001.

Aviation geeks and more casual admirers of the brand and airline lore will get one last chance to gawk at a bygone era in travel at the open house tomorrow.
