Mobile Ticketing for Public Transportation Makes Headway in Texas

Smartphone users around the world want mobile ticketing apps for daily commutes. However, the digital passes are expensive and time-intensive projects for city governments and the transition from paper to mobile will be slow.

Public transit riders in North Texas, particularly in Dallas and Fort Worth, can now pay for transit fares through a smartphone app.
The three transit agencies are among the first in the country to adopt a mobile ticketing service. The agencies looked into various payment systems and have determined that a mobile ticketing service would be the most versatile and convenient for their customers since most of them own smartphones anyway.
