Accidents, including the severance of British tourist’s food, have already occurred due to the TLC’s computer glitch. Have no doubt that car services and taxi apps with screening features will use this to boost their business.

A software glitch at the Taxi and Limousine Commission prevented the regulator from seeing all the traffic violations racked up by cab and livery drivers, including 4,500 whose licenses could have been suspended or revoked because of their driving records.
The TLC discovered the problem after an August crash in which a yellow taxi plowed onto a crowded sidewalk in Midtown, severing the foot of a British tourist. The driver, identified by police as Mohammed Himon, had nine points on his driving record, the Department of Motor Vehicles said, three more than the threshold at which TLC could have ordered his license suspended.
