Virgin America Is Making a New Version of Its Famous Safety Video

VA’s first safety video made a lot of waves when it launched in 2007, and aviation geeks, VA fans and even the rest of the airline industry will keenly watch if it can break some norms again this time, with the new video slated for later this year.

Enter the new safety video, window dressing to some but deeply symbolic to Virgin.

The meeting was aimed at deciding whether Jon Chu, a Hollywood director fresh off “G.I. Joe Retaliation” and various music videos, was the right director to refresh Virgin’s first safety video. That animated short, featuring a techie nun and a matador traveling with his bull, made fliers laugh.

They are planning the video, they hope, for later this year.
