The Top Low-Cost Carriers in the Middle East

Although the low cost carrier market in the middle east is small, it is certainly vibrant and contains several strains of the genre. From the original Air Arabia, still very faithful to its low-cost roots and able to be consistently profitable, through Jazeera and NAS Air to the now-largest, flydubai – the latter now becoming a closer partner with fellow Dubai airline, Emirates.

The region’s LCCs have built a notable presence primarily in foreign worker and, to a lesser extent, leisure markets in South Asia, North Africa and Southern and Eastern Europe… Internally, the biggest potential market is within Saudi Arabia, but the national policy has been slow to embrace the model.
