Frontier has been piling up losses and parent-company Republic Airways has been looking to shed Frontier.

The owner of Frontier Airlines is in talks with a pair of investment firms that each may want to acquire the Denver carrier, according to a news report Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the discussions are with Indigo Partners LLC, a Phoenix private equity firm, and Anchorage Capital Group LLC of New York, which are competing in the talks with Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: RJET). Both companies have invested in airlines over the years.
