Granted the objects are supposed to be more travel-inspired than travel-hardy, LV will never have a more rapt audience than the modish consumers at the premiere’s location at Art Basel in Miami.

Louis Vuitton didn’t become a successful purveyor of travel goods by sitting on its thumbs. Over the years, the company, which was founded in 1854, has invented steamer trunks that convert into beds and a padlock that it challenged Houdini to pick.

Vuitton is recalling the adventurous spirit of those designs with Objets Nomades, a collection that was presented in the Miami Design District on Tuesday and will remain on view through Sunday.
