Top iPhone and iPad travel apps for the busiest travel week in U.S.

Skift Take

The delta between what people are actually using versus what kinds of travel startups are being started and funded is huge.

We’re keeping an eye on the top downloaded travel apps every day of this Thanksgiving travel week, and Tuesday is the day when the main crush of travel starts traditionally. Today, this is how it stands for top iPhone and iPad travel apps, courtesy AppAdvice.

Note that all of them are utility apps, either in booking, transaction or managing various aspects of the travel value chain. Not one of them is in the social travel/inspiration space where most of the travel startups are getting funded (and failing).

    How to figure top iPad mini apps?

    Also how about a list of your (and Om Malik’s) fav iPad accessories?

    This is a great list, and like you mentioned, I much prefer
    the function-centric travel apps over the social ones. I have Facebook and Twitter;
    I don’t need to join a bunch of other networks just for when I travel. I work
    at DISH and started using KayakPro when a coworker of mine recommended it, and
    I can’t imagine booking travel without it. Another favorite of mine has been DISH
    Anywhere. It lets me watch recorded and live programming from my home receiver,
    using my iPad, no matter where I am, as long as there’s a 3G or wifi
    connection. It’s great for catching up on shows on the road and even better for
    killing time during layovers.
