Interstate tourists are flocking to Canberra in increased numbers, while international backpackers are staying away from the capital, new data shows.

Tourism Research Australia issued its latest data on domestic and overseas tourism yesterday, showing about 450,000 Australians visited the ACT on overnight trips in the March quarter.
